The purpose of this website is to share my ideas about addressing problems that face society and to offer extra information about myself to anyone who wishes to know. I have four research papers available under the "academic works" section of this website, one of which being the final research project for my Master of Public Administration degree. My papers suggest policy directions supported by analysis of peer-reviewed information. I will develop this site as time progresses.
My name is Harley Jeremiah Jackson and I'm from Florida in the United States. I hold a Master of Public Administration from Strayer University and a Bachelor of Arts in Natural Sciences/Mathematics from Thomas Edison State College. I'm a full-time Lecturer at Kyungwon University of South Korea and a co-founder of Minglish, an education management firm in Seoul. In addition, I instruct part-time at POSCO, Samsung Medical Center, SK Telecom, and SK Securities.
My extensive work experience dates back to 2000 and includes service in the United States Army before becoming an English Instructor over two years ago. My broad educational background, long list of experiences, continuing travels, and ongoing studies ensure that I offer informed opinions backed by real-world applications and explanations founded upon fact. I follow current affairs on the international level and I use what I learn from school and life to view issues in critical ways. Through doing so, I am gaining insightful perspectives that allow me to think of solutions that may evade most people. I try to view things as an individual human being before viewing them from the perspective of a group, such as a religion, nation, or culture.
When I teach, I keep in mind the fact that the world is becoming smaller through information technology and more efficient transportation while the human population is growing exponentially. Because of this trend that I keep in mind, I believe the leaders of tomorrow must come from all nations and that they must be prepared to face greater challenges than those who preceded them. My educational philosophy is to help prepare these future leaders while taking on my responsibility to lead, as well.
My future goals include starting my own business, completing a Master of Public Health, becoming a published academic, finishing a doctorate, and one day serving the United States as an elected public official.
My interests include, but are not limited to, international affairs, human rights, environmental sustainability, philosophy, politics, law, education, traveling, family, friends, entrepreneurship, transhumanism, and strategy games.
If you navigate the menu on the right, you can view my curriculum vitae, four original research papers commenting on the state of affairs in the United States, my contact information, and a few useful links. My most recent paper was finished on December 19, 2010. It is titled "Adapting U.S. Economic Policy to the New Global Economy." The final draft is available for reading under the academic works section. I will expand the content further as I progress in my graduate studies and produce more research papers. I will also add more information as it becomes available and as it occurs to me.
I have a gorgeous wife named Jung Min. She is the more creative and artistic half of our relationship. She makes me think more, encourages me, gives me strength, and gives me ambition. I would not be where I am nor where I will be without her. I love you dearly, Min.
What follows are personal statements about people close to me and, if you are only interested in professional information, you need not read any further.
I would like to acknowledge a few great people in my life. I know my list is not all inclusive, so if you think you should be mentioned, shoot me an email and I will add you. First of all, my mother, Renee Lorraine Williams, has given me support throughout my life and she is the most responsible for my academic and intellectual strength. She is also responsible for my unorthodox outlook on life. Thanks for being there, Mom. Sorry if I have not made good on my promises yet. Next is my sister. She is a pillar of strength who just returned from fighting in Iraq for her country. Rhiannon Selena Schneider is a resilient person and a member of the United States Army National Guard. She never lets anything get between her and her family. All my friends deserve to be acknowledged, as well. My friends who are still in touch with me after so many years, you're who I'm talking about. The friends that I have made in Korea are appreciated, too. You guys helped me out when I needed it most. I love all of you.
Finally, I just want to mention a few important people who are no longer here. My dad, Homer Richard Jackson, was a good person and I strive to make his best traits my own. He would care for anyone, no matter what other people thought of that person. My grandmother, Carmen Hezlitt, had a great talent for unifying people. I hope to make this talent my own if I have not already. My grandfather, Russell Hezlitt, was the hardest working person that I've ever met. He did everything to take care of his family. That, too, is a legacy I hope to carry on.
